Morning Check-In
like for students?
Students enter the classroom, grab their Chromebooks, and click their bookmark for Topical Storm. They select the image of a face that represents how they feel this morning.
After selecting an emotion, students choose a reason from a predefined list rather than typing a free-text answer. Morning Check-In does not ask students to enter their names, email addresses, or written explanations. The teacher assigns each student a number and ordinarily maintains the separate information linking that number to a student. Response records may therefore be identifiable within the school and are handled as protected school information where required.
Only the assigned student and authorized school personnel should have access to the relevant student page or response information. Student links and bookmarks should not be shared with unauthorized users.
The results are available immediately to the teacher and to any others who have been given access by the school.
Morning Check-In is not a way to request emergency assistance. A student who needs immediate help should speak directly to a teacher or another responsible adult and follow the school’s safety procedures.
